McGuinty Government Investing In Infrastructure To Create Jobs, Boost Economy

Ontario is investing in a new recreation complex in Brantford that will create jobs and enhance the health and well-being of families for generations to come.
The new Laurier Brantford YMCA Postsecondary Athletics Recreation Complex will boast 125,000 square-feet of space and feature a state-of-the-art athletic center that will include a pool, gyms and fitness centre. The new complex will also provide health and wellness programs such as personal health, social support networks, education and literacy to families throughout the community.
This project supports Building Together, Ontario's long-term infrastructure plan, to repair, rebuild and renew the province's roads and highways, bridges, public transit, schools and postsecondary institutions, hospitals and courthouses.
Through Building Together, the province expects to continue significant investments in public infrastructure over the next decade, and will begin by investing more than $35 billion over the next three years.

- Building Together builds on the McGuinty Government's unprecedented infrastructure investments to date with investments of more than $35 billion over the next three years, to create and protect over 300,000 jobs as laid out in the 2011 Budget.
- Since 2003, the McGuinty government has created and supported 600,000 jobs and has invested $62 billion in infrastructure.
- The province is investing more than $16 million towards the Laurier Brantford YMCA, with an estimated total cost of $50 million.
- The new building is being built in partnership with the City of Brantford, Laurier University, the Six Nations Elected Council, Six Nations Polytechnic, Nipissing University and Mohawk College.
